Right before you enter the Karwendel Nature Park, you will pass the Holzerhütte (Logger’s) Museum and the Scharnitz Nature Park and Information Centre. The eye-catching architecture of the modern information centre dominates the ‘Länd’ car parking area and the interior of the building is just as impressive and makes you very aware of the surrounding landscape. You have all the natural materials, the smell of the wood, there are interactive information points, there is a relief of the Karwendel Nature Park, a 2000-year old baby elk skeleton, a golden eagle, a bear trap and a good selection of informative literature. The information centre also has various exhibitions on display throughout the year.
There is a self-service bike repair station in front of the Scharnitz Nature Park and Information Centre. Provided by the ÖAMTC (Automobile Association), it has various tools attached to the column and an integrated air pump which is suitable for the most common valves.
