BOARD 1 - START OF THE REITHER BEE NATURE TRAIL

Glad you're here! Over the next two kilometres, we encounter countless wild and honey bees, beneficial insects, and plants in their natural habitat. The different creatures were selected and presented together with the Karwendel Nature Park, the University of Innsbruck, and the Seefeld Region Beekeepers' Association — with patience and a good eye, they can all be found here! But beware: you are here in their natural home — so please behave politely, respectfully, and be good guests!

DISCOVER & PRESERVE NATURE

Let's go!

The nature trail runs along the Karwendelbahn railway from Reith to Seefeld. There, around the Wildsee lake, you will find the Reither Moor Climate Nature Trail — where you can follow the Calyx dragonfly even further through nature. And if you take the Karwendelbahn to Scharnitz, you will find a large wild bee hotel at the Nature Park Information Centre, the interactive Holzerhütte Museum, and the gateway to Austria's largest nature park!

EXPLORE BEE DIVERSITY

EXPLORE BEE DIVERSITY

How many bee species are there actually?

When we talk about bees, we usually mean the honey bee (Apis mellifera - the European honey bee). But in Austria alone, there are around 700 other different species of wild bees.

Along the Reither Bee Nature Trail, there are countless animals and insects, and sometimes people on mountain bikes—always watch out for each other!

PROTECTING NATURE: 10 RULES

Code of conduct

Correct behavior in nature is the basis for preserving sensitive habitats and their biodiversity. That's why we stick to ten really simple rules together:

  • We take our waste back with us.
  • We stay on the marked trails.
  • We behave quietly and do not enter wildlife rest areas.
  • We treat animals with respectful distance and avoid disturbing them around dusk and at night.
  • We do not pick plants.
  • We travel by public transport.
  • We adhere to designated driving bans and parking areas.
  • We only use permitted campsites and refrain from using open fires.
  • We support regional businesses.
  • We always keep dogs on a leash.

CREATING TOGETHER

This nature trail is a collaborative project.
