The "Karwendelmarsch" (long-distance hike through the mountain range Karwendel) is one of the sporting highlights in the Tyrolean calendar of events, offering long-distance hikers and runners not only a physical challenge but also unique natural experiences in an unspoilt landscape.

Crossing the largest nature park in Austria from Scharnitz to Pertisau on 52 or 35 kilometres is the key data of this summer sports highlight. Every year there is a huge rush to the 2,500 starting places, and a total of ten refreshment stations offer regional delicacies to fortify you.

Environmental protection clearly in focus:
In addition to the sporting impacts, this year's major event will also be sustainable in other ways. Since 2023, three euros per participant (a total of 7,500 euros) have been allocated to the "Traces of Biodiversity" project in the Karwendel Nature Park. Additionally, reusable cups will be used at the refreshment area in the finish line, and the helpers will wear T-shirts made from sustainable cotton.
