The Karwendel Nature Park is the largest nature park in Austria and the largest protected area in Tyrol, known for the Großer Ahornboden and the Isar spring. The latest expansion now also includes the Arnspitze nature reserve around Leutasch. The Nature Park's work focuses on nature conservation, recreation & tourism, environmental education and knowledge & research, but there is also a colourful programme of lectures and excursions at the Nature Park Info Centre in Scharnitz!
Programme on 24.07.2025:
As part of an Euregio project on capercaillie, Elena Weindel from the LFU Bayern will give a lecture explaining how these birds live in the Alps and what conservation measures are necessary to secure their population. She will highlight the challenges that capercaillie face and explain the specific actions that contribute to the protection of this species. The lecture is aimed at anyone who wants to learn more about the ecology of this species and its significance for the alpine ecosystem.
