Ganghoferlauf 2022: Together again at last!

Finally, real competitions again: On 5th and 6th of March 2022, the extensive Leutasch Valley will once again be transformed into a competition arena for highly motivated cross-country skiers at Austria's most popular public race! Fittingly, this year's 51st Ganghoferlauf will be held under the motto "Together again at last".

Since its beginnings, the Ganghoferlauf in Leutasch can look back on over 50 successful events. A thoroughly impressive success story, which also significantly characterises the continuing quality of the most popular and at the same time oldest cross-country skiing event in Austria.

After last year's race had to be cancelled for the first time in its history due to the pandemic, this year we are even more excited to FINALLY GO TO THE START TOGETHER AGAIN! So the legendary Ganghoferlauf was not only the last race before the first lockdown, but is also the first public race to be held again in Austria since the beginning of the pandemic. A very special occasion for all participants, organisers and the many volunteers. We really can't wait to finally celebrate real sporting moments together again!

CLASSIC, SKATING & COMBINED
The 16-kilometre-long Leutasch Valley is known far beyond the country's borders for its incredibly beautiful and varied cross-country trails – a true cross-country skiing El Dorado.

The starting signal for the Ganghoferlauf will be given on Saturday with the classic discipline for women and men in the 25 km and 50 km events. An additional highlight is the expo area in the finish area at the Leutasch football pitch, where those interested can find out about the latest high-tech material from well-known manufacturers without obligation and use the waxing service.

On Sunday, the skating discipline will compete in the 20 km and 42 km events. Those who are looking for a real challenge can participate in the Ganghoferlauf-Combined with the classic and skating long distance and take part in the combined ranking.

The 51st Ganghoferlauf 2022 will again be held as an official Euroloppet race and is also part of the Visma Ski Classics Challengers race series on both long distances.

All participants can of course look forward to numerous goodies, such as a functional starter gift and free entry to the ErlebnisWelt Alpenbad Leutasch (only on the competition weekend). There will be no big celebration after the race this year. The flower ceremony will therefore take place directly at the finish area, where each participant will receive the winner's medal. In addition, all starters will receive a meal voucher that can be redeemed in one of the many excellent restaurants in the region – for big success celebrations with a small group of friends.

MINI & SPECIAL GANGHOFERLAUF
All young runners between the ages of 3 and 17 can also celebrate their first successes at what is probably the most spectacular cross-country skiing weekend in Austria and will be taking part in the Mini Ganghoferlauf on Saturday. On Saturday from 1.00 pm, together with the small-scale public run, the Special Ganghoferlauf will be held again and will present impressive sporting moments along the 300 or 1000 metre distance.

ALL ABOUT THE LEGEND IN LEUTASCH
The popular Ganghoferlauf in Leutasch is being organised and held for the 51st time with the active support of a good 15 Leutasch clubs. For one weekend, the entire Leutasch valley is dominated by the great run, which is traditionally organised together with the Leutasch Ski Club and the Seefeld Tourist Association. It is only with the help of countless volunteers that the legendary Ganghoferlauf is finally once again an absolute highlight in the winter event calendar.

REGISTRATION
The preparations for the Euroloppet Ganghoferlauf are already in full swing and the anticipation is growing day by day. The online registration is open until 2nd of March.

From 3rd of March 2022 at 8.00 am late registrations are possible until 1 hour before the start of the respective competition via App (IOS App, Android App) or from Friday (4th of March) directly in the Race Office.
