The highest "Sacher" is in Seefeld

Vienna / Seefeld, September 1st 2022. From mid-September, what was previously two Sacher Hotels will become three in Austria: from September 15th, the Astoria Resort Seefeld will operate under the name Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld-Tirol. With this step, the Sacher Group is entering the resort hotel industry and the family-owned company is now also setting standards in this category.

The Astoria Resort Seefeld, family-owned since 1950 and under the management of Elisabeth Gürtler since 2015, is located on the Seefeld high plateau at 1,200 m, nestled in an approximately 20,000 m² park. The spacious, family-run five-star superior resort has been extensively expanded, renovated and refined in recent years with great attention to detail, entrepreneurial vision and in accordance with the highest quality standards. The multi-award-winning resort has an approx. 4,700m² wellness area, a gourmet restaurant and 81 suites and rooms in elegant Alpine style. "The Astoria, which my parents acquired in 1950, is inseparably linked to my family; as are, of course, the Sacher Hotels, which I had the privilege of helping to shape for more than 25 years. The most beautiful award is that we as a family made the decision to develop the Astoria into the Alpin Resort Sacher," says Elisabeth Gürtler. The hotelier will continue to manage the Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld-Tirol together with General Manager Anton Gustav Birnbaum and her team.

Sacher: Permanent, conscious development
Under the Sacher brand, outstanding services, products and business areas are permanently and consciously developed further. All Sacher hotels, cafés and the manufactory of the original Sacher Torte are managed by the owner families Gürtler and Winkler and shaped for the future. Attention to detail, a family atmosphere and quality are what make Sacher excellence. "These are precisely the values that have been set and lived as a benchmark in the further development of the Astoria over the past few years, so that today the house is what it is: a Sacher where you feel at home, enjoy excellent service and feel the attention to detail in every moment," says Alexandra Winkler, Sacher co-owner, who adds: "I am delighted to welcome the Alpin Resort Sacher to the Sacher family. Here you can feel 100% Sacher, here 100% Sacher is lived".

New business segment: Resort hotel business
In the Sacher Hotels in Vienna and Salzburg, classic Austrian luxury has been lived and celebrated for guests since 1832. This attitude, which means preserving what is valuable but at the same time interpreting the spirit of the times, is now continued and lived in the Alpin Resort Sacher. The Sacher Hotels Vienna and Salzburg are the only family-run five-star superior city hotels in Austria. "With the Alpin Resort Sacher, we are expanding our business segment and taking a conscious step towards the resort hotel industry, which means new opportunities for us. Elegance and spirit of the age characterise the Alpin Resort Sacher and the team in Seefeld knows what Sacher excellence means and what Sacher guests expect," says Sacher co-owner Georg Gürtler, who is proud of the consistently high quality standards in all Sacher properties.

From Astoria Resort Seefeld to Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld-Tirol
Hilde and Fritz Mauthner, Elisabeth Gürtler's parents, bought the Astoria in Seefeld (then called Pension Britannia) in 1950 and quickly developed it into one of the most sophisticated hotels – including the first indoor swimming pool in Tyrol – in the Alps. Elisabeth Gürtler spent a lot of time at the Astoria when she was young and learned and lived excellent hotel management here. The Sacher companies have been run by the owners Alexandra Winkler and Georg Gürtler and their families since 2015. After the handover, Elisabeth Gürtler returned to the place that shaped her understanding of tourism and which is her special love: the Astoria Seefeld, which has now, after renovations, extensions and refinements, reached the standard that makes it the Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld-Tirol. "I am delighted to welcome guests to the highest Sacher, to bring them closer to the nature that inspires me so much and gives me so much strength, and to pamper them with my team and the unmistakable Sacher excellence," says Elisabeth Gürtler.

From 15 September, guests will check in at the Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld-Tirol. The first highlight under the new name is planned for 16 to 18 September, when the Alpin Resort Sacher invites guests to "Bergauf mit Cultour und Culinarik".
