Development Framework and Agenda 2030
Goals of the Region Seefeld
We are guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda 2030, which were recognized by (almost) all member states of the United Nations in 2015. The SDGs have global validity and set the guidelines for sustainable development processes. As the Seefeld Tourism Association, we prioritize four essential goals by 2025 in order to make effective contributions by 2030: policies for sustainable tourism (SDG 8), sustainable consumption and production patterns (SDG 12), far-reaching climate protection measures (SDG 13) and protection and preservation of biodiversity (SDG 15). True to our motto "nobody is perfect", we encourage all tourism businesses in our region to implement ecological and social improvement processes. In the "Downloads" section, we have published corresponding guidelines on the SDGs.
We can wait forever for things to change. Or we can start in our environment and create a living space where we can live in an environmentally conscious way. We have clearly positioned ourselves with the "Really Sustainable" project and the eco-label for destinations and have opted for the second approach.
STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT - REGION SEEFELD
Really sustainable - development
We love nature. That's exactly why we live sustainability. Not just for Tyrol's high plateau – we also want to inspire and motivate others with our pioneering work. Because only together can we create a healthy and sustainable future!
Under the project title 'Genuinely Sustainable', measures in the Seefeld region have been consolidated since spring 2020. For example, Europe's highest (year-round) ICE train station makes arriving and departing from Seefeld genuinely sustainable, while a sophisticated bus network ensures seamless mobility across the entire high plateau. Based on the Agenda 2030, a region-wide SDG compass has also been developed as a fact-based sustainability guide. In addition to the Seefeld Tourist Board and the Karwendel Nature Park, six accommodation businesses in the Seefeld region have now positioned themselves as pioneering plateau pioneers – including a comprehensive CO2 balance and milestone plan for the future.
For more biodiversity on the plateau, a forest area of the Tourist Board has been reforested as a climate-resilient mountain forest, and together with the Seidemann nursery, a sustainable flower box has been compiled for regional businesses. We also offer various regional products of the highest quality standard in our information offices and in the online shop. And because the most beautiful natural treasures must be protected, the mighty Arnspitzen between Leutasch and Scharnitz are now part of the Karwendel Nature Park, the largest nature reserve in all of Austria. After more than a year of preparation, the Seefeld region will also be the first region in Austria to undergo the complex certification process with the environmental label for destinations in spring 2023. With success - since May 2023, we are officially the first region ever to be awarded the Austrian Ecolabel for Tourism Destinations! But that's not all - we are continuing on our path consistently and step by step!
