The Wildmoos plateau (1,320 m) is a popular local recreational area near Seefeld with a very interesting natural phenomenon close to the picturesque lake, the Möserer See: 2 mountain lakes - Wildmoossee and Lottensee – appear from seemingly nowhere in the middle of the green meadows, larch and birch trees.

This aperiodic (irregular) natural highlight is most likely a complicated mix of the levels of spring rain and snow melt in the underground karst system. When the spring thaw begins, the underground system fills with water and any excess water flows into the land depressions creating little lakes. These can disappear again after just a few weeks, but sometimes the water level continues to rise from the underground springs even after the thaw – a fascinating natural spectacle.

There have been many attempts to try to predict the appearance of the lakes, all of them unsuccessful, and so the exact cause of their appearance or non-appearance remains a mystery.
