Climbing Area Hinterreintalschrofen

At 2250 metres above sea level, above the Rotmoosalm in the Wetterstein mountains, lies the alpine and newly renovated climbing area Hinterreintalschrofen Südwand. Experienced climbers will find a total of 7 routes here – both sport climbing routes and multi-pitch routes – in the fifth and sixth degree of difficulty in the typical Wetterstein limestone.

The climbing area Hinterreintalschrofen Südwand was newly renovated in spring 2022. It is absolutely necessary to bring along complete alpine equipment (helmet, abseiling devices, mobile belay devices, half rope for multi-pitch routes, etc.) as well as alpine climbing experience.

The location far above the Gaistal near Leutasch could hardly be more spectacular and the Rotmoosalm (2030m) is the perfect base for this: before climbing you can enjoy a second breakfast and at the end of the day a well-deserved stop for homemade dumplings, Kaiserschmarrn and more awaits you in the sunset with the warmest hospitality of the hosts Eva and Florian. The Alm is also the ideal base for multi-day climbing adventures in the Wetterstein Mountains, as the legendary alpine climbing area Schüsselkar is only about 1.5 hours away.

The approach to the climbing area Hinterreintalschrofen Südwand is on foot from the car park in Gaistal via Hämmermoosalm to Rotmoosalm in about 2 to 3 hours. It is easier with an e-bike; here you ride via the Gaistalalm in about 1.5 hours. From the Rotmoosalm you can walk for about 20 to 30 minutes to the start of the routes.

Despite careful renovation and regular maintenance, high alpine dangers such as falling rocks etc. can never be ruled out. Use of the climbing area is at your own risk and responsibility. Climbing requires the correct handling of climbing equipment and the various rope, belay and climbing techniques as well as correct tour planning and route selection
