The Schachenhaus is located at 1,867 metres above sea level below the imposing Schachen Castle of King Ludwig II. Both structures were built as early as 1870 and today offer a popular hiking and biking destination in the Wetterstein Mountains. There is a large botanical alpine garden right by the estate, and guided tours of the castle and the Turkish hall on the upper floor are also offered regularly.
The hut hosts Marianne and Andreas prefer to serve delicious delicacies from the farm's own production on the wind-protected sun terrace. From June to October, the hut also offers rustic overnight accommodation and is also available for private parties and celebrations on request. Bikers will find lock-up and charging facilities at the cosy summer hut, but must bring their own suitable charger. From the Schachenhaus, you can join further hikes such as to the Meilerhütte or a via ferrata tour to the Dreitorspitze.
OVERNIGHT STAY
For overnight stays at the Schachenhaus, two small and one larger traditional mattress dormitory and 17 cosy room beds are available in summer. A total of 67 people can spend the night at the hut, and a rich, high-Alpine breakfast buffet is also available in the morning
