train station
The opening of the highest ICE railway station served all year round in the world and the new Information and Mobility Centre coincided nicely with the 2019 FIS Nordic Ski World Championships which were held on the plateau. This modern and welcoming facility is located in the centre of the resort and serves as a ‘gateway to the Region’. It allows for barrier-free travel and has public toilets, a tobacconist’s (next to the railway station) and a train ticket machine. The new tourist information office is also located here.
The new railway station building is the epitome of modernity and sustainability and provides an optimum service for travel in the region. It has weather-protected platforms, a bus terminal (for buses to Mösern, Leutasch, Mittenwald, as well as for the local village and ski bus service), a taxi rank, an underground garage (2 min. walking distance from the station), 2 electric charging points, covered bike racks and a Park & Ride area. Over 50 trains (ICE, REX & S-Bahn) stop here on weekdays and at weekends, including direct connections to Munich, Dortmund, Hamburg and Berlin, with an average of 2,000 passengers per day.
