Alpine pastures & huts
The Coburger Hütte dates back to 1895 and enjoys a fantastic sunny location in a high valley, close to the crystal-clear lake, the Seebensee. It is a popular destination for long hikes and (e)-bike tours in the Wetterstein mountains. Surrounded by impressive peaks and the dramatic Zugspitze massif, this working alm pastureland offers guests hearty Tyrolean fare in a traditional rustic setting. The Coburger Hütte also has overnight accommodation for up to 80 people.
The Coburger Hütte has fresh drinking water from its own spring and the hosts, Jürgen and Sonja, are on hand to serve up freshly-prepared food and drink to the many mountain enthusiasts who choose to sit and relax on the inviting sun terrace. There are plenty of activities on offer around the Coburger Hütte too. From summit tours (Sonnenspitze, Drachenkopf, Marienbergspitze, Grünstein, Tajakopf, Griesspitzen) to geocaching, climbing routes, a good selection of bike tours or even a refreshing dip in the nearby lakes, the Seebensee or the Drachensee (slightly further up). Children are most welcome, the access route is family-friendly, and there is even the possibility to stock up with supplies for anyone on a multi-day alpine adventure.
