True winter variety on Tyrol's high plateau

True winter variety on Tyrol's high plateau

Seefeld in winter

The winter variety around Seefeld is truly breathtaking: there are snow-sure ski areas for freestylers and families, well-cleared winter trails for extended hikes, countless authentic winter experiences as well as the largest and best cross-country ski trail network in western Austria. But the winter also awaits away from the cross-country trails, pistes and hiking paths: on a variety of natural toboggan runs, on romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides, at the traditional Tyrolean sport of curling, on a hike with fluffy alpacas, while strolling and browsing at the Seefeld Christmas market or in one of the many outstanding wellness establishments.

Chapel Seekirchl
The Seekirchl – also Heiligkreuzkirche – is probably the most famous landmark of Seefeld. Under the regency of Archduke Leopold V, construction began in 1629, but the elaborate sacral building was not completed until 1666, a full 37 years later. Originally, the baroque Seekirchl stood in the middle of the cross lake artificially created by Duke Sigismund the Coin Rich in the 15th century, which, however, was drained about 300 years later in 1808.
