Alpine pastures & huts
The Knorrhütte has been located on the Zugspitzplatt southwest below the Brunntalkopf in the expansive Wetterstein Mountains since 1855. At 2,052 proud metres above sea level, it is also the closest hut to the majestic Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany and Austria, and is therefore particularly well suited as a base camp for the three-day Zugspitze tour. During the summer months from May to October, a total of up to 112 people can then spend the night at the DAV refuge and enjoy delicious meals served by hut host Gernot on the cosy sun terrace.
OVERNIGHT STAY
From May to October, hikers can also stay overnight at the historic refuge. A total of 28 cosy room beds and a whole 84 traditional camp places for a maximum of 112 people are then available. There are washrooms with showers and toilets, hut sleeping bags are compulsory and the necessary advance reservation can also be made conveniently online. During the winter months, an unlocked winter room is also available for emergencies.
STARTING POINT
The approach to the Knorrhütte is from the Salzbach car park, for which a charge is made, in the Gaistal alpine paradise near Leutasch.
