REALLY SUSTAINABLE

The top 5 of our sustainability strategy

In the Seefeld region, the focus is on a sustainable future with pride and commitment. The sustainability strategy of our region reflects the endeavour not only to preserve a beautiful destination, but also to improve it for future generations. Through innovative mobility solutions, the promotion of regional products, environmentally conscious projects, community involvement and, last but not least, nationally recognised awards, the Seefeld region shows that sustainability is more than just a word. Discover the top 5 guiding pillars of the sustainability strategy, which aim to preserve and promote the beauty and diversity of the Seefeld region.

1. Public mobility

Local public transport is included for every guest (guest card = public transport ticket, valid for all regional buses and the Seefeld-Scharnitz train line). Public transport for guests is facilitated and promoted by incentives such as the optimisation of luggage transport with a regional partner (convenient door-to-door transport) and the free use of all regional bus lines, even on arrival at the booked accommodation in the Seefeld region (presentation of a reservation confirmation is sufficient). Selected businesses in our region (e.g. "Plateau Pioneers") offer their guests various bonuses when travelling by public transport (e.g. e-car sharing, free e-bike/moped hire and a 5% discount on the room price, etc.).

2. We focus on regionality

Sustainable consumption and purchasing is particularly important to us, which is why we focus on cooperation with local producers: Projects such as growing our own Plateau potato and the Plateau breakfast as well as the opportunity to buy regional products in the information offices and local farm shops are important and are advertised in a targeted manner.

Everything we do should be sustainable for the future.

3. We take care of our environment

Close-to-nature green spaces, Klimafitter mountain forest (sustainable reforestation project) and sustainable flower boxes in all information offices and some regional businesses are just some of the many projects that we support. The annual clean-up challenge and conservation rules for guests, locals and stakeholders help to keep our region as beautiful and healthy as we know and appreciate it. We are also consistently developing further, for example, the expansion of environmentally friendly and centralised biomass heating solutions and photovoltaic systems is becoming increasingly important for numerous businesses in the region, while lighting concepts and public infrastructure facilities are being converted to energy-saving LED lighting. Our partnership with the Karwendel Nature Park, which includes numerous co-operations, events and guided hikes and tours, is intended to promote nature awareness and anchor it even more deeply among guests and locals. Since the Karwendelmarsch 2023, we have been charging € 3.00 per participant for recultivation measures along the route. For the first time ever, the Gangohferlauf 2024 will be held as a Green Event Basic Tirol.

4. Our living space is for everyone

Our region belongs to everyone - accordingly, we try to involve guests and locals alike in the optimisation and preservation of our living space. Regional associations provide particular support for event cooperations and facilitate colourful concert programmes and numerous festivals throughout the year. We want to develop further - guest satisfaction surveys and the involvement of residents and employees in the development strategy of our region through working groups and surveys are of particular importance to us.

5. Awards from our region show that we are on the right track

In 2023, the region was awarded the Austrian Ecolabel, the TIROLERIN Award and 2 VCÖ mobility prizes for sustainability and innovative mobility projects - find out all the details. But our region is not resting on its laurels, there are also ambitious strategies for our sustainable development in the future - to the regional action plan.

Really Sustainable
The most precious possession of our Region Seefeld is the unconsumed nature. The Alps frame the breathtaking nature, which holds an incredible diversity. Rich in species and with a unique biodiversity, with just one step you are already in the middle of it. Between mountain and valley, forest and meadow, air and water, Tyrol's most beautiful high plateau stretches.
