Tobogganing
The natural toboggan run Wettersteinhütte is directly accessible from the parking lot Stupfer (P2) in Gaistal via a cleared winter hiking trail. The ascent is well signposted from the car park with a continuous gradient northwards to just below the Wangalm. Cross a somewhat more challenging valley cut, then turn left over the bridge and continue diagonally uphill to the Wettersteinhütte at 1717 metres above sea level.
The ascent, which is quite demanding in places (about 100 minutes walking time for a 577-metre difference in altitude), is rewarded at the top by an unparalleled panorama over the Seefeld sun plateau and up to the imposing "Grand Dame of the Alps", the Hohe Munde at 2662 metres above sea level. Grande finale: the winding descent through three kilometres of Wetterstein winter wonderland. At the sunny mountain hut, Beate and Hans provide hungry hikers and tobogganing enthusiasts with rustic home cooking and other delicious refreshments - by the way, they also serve excellent ribs here in the evening if you order in advance.
Attention: The natural toboggan run is not illuminated in the evening, but you can also stay overnight at the Wettersteinhütte on request.
