Sweet, summery, seasonal: cranberry dumplings
They should not be missing in the Tyrolean summer in any case: Cranberries! The small blue berries - they are also called blueberries or bilberries - are currently growing everywhere in our region. They are not only the perfect refreshment during a hike, you can easily make delicious delicacies from them.
"Cranberry dumplings"
We have a recipe that brings back sweet childhood memories for you: Moosbeernocken! Patrick Trois from the Dorfkrug in Mösern shares his "child's play" instructions.
Ingredients (1 - 2 servings):
For the cranberry dumplings you only need a few ingredients:
- 500g blueberries
- 250g flour
- 250ml milk
- 2 eggs
- salt
- clarified butter or butter for frying
- icing sugar or cinnamon sugar
For the "topping":
- Powdered sugar (powdered sugar)
- Cinnamon sugar
- Vanilla ice cream, if desired
Preparation:
Mix the flour, approx. 1/4 litre of milk, two eggs and a little salt. Stir the mixture into a rather creamy batter, then stir 1-2 hands of blueberries into the batter with a fork. Heat the butter in a hot pan and pour in heaps of the batter with a spoon. The batter will spread a little, so don't place it too close together in the pan. Bake until lightly browned on each side and remove from the pan. Then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or icing sugar and enjoy. Hmm, summer tastes sooo good!
Tip: If you love berries, you can of course try this recipe with other berries - for example raspberries, currants and co.
