This village running loop from Scharnitz to Gießenbach follows the Isar and Gießenbach rivers, offering beautiful views and direct access to the water.
This easy running route starts at the Nature Park Information Center in Scharnitz and is suitable year-round. It first follows the Isar Promenade, running directly along the river. It’s hard to believe, but this river originates not far from here, in the Hinterautal near Scharnitz.
After a short time, the route reaches the Maria Hilf Parish Church. Here, the road is crossed, and the trail continues along Porta-Claudia-Straße until it ends. A bridge crosses the Gießenbach – a great spot for a short break. From here, the trail transitions to a gravel path that runs alongside the stream.
The route then briefly follows a paved road and crosses another bridge. This marks the entrance to the Gießenbach Valley, where an idyllic gravel path continues along the stream. The crystal-clear water runs alongside the path, with stunning views opening up along the way.
Upon reaching Gießenbach, the loop passes through the quiet village before following the same relaxed route back to Scharnitz. A beautiful and varied run that combines nature and village charm.
