SPRING & AUTUMN
The most beautiful sunny spots in autumn
On Tyrol's high plateau, autumn shows its most beautiful sunny sides. Here, no one is moping around just because summer may already be over elsewhere. Quite the opposite! Golden larch forests, soft light and a truly unique atmosphere: Autumn is outdoing itself with its play of colors and the high plateau is tempting you with hours of sunshine, while at lower altitudes dense fog is already hanging overhead. The perfect opportunity for a break with extensive hikes, varied bike tours and hut evenings with limitless views! We have visited the coziest sunny spots, the most panoramic trails and the most delicious alpine huts and tell you when and where it is most beautiful!
The golden morning in the Region Seefeld
- Sunrise round at the Panoramaweg Reith with viewpoint Kaiserstand & waterfall
- King tour with overnight stay and breakfast at the Nördlinger Hütte below the Reither Spitze
- Overnight stay with breakfast at the Hämmermoosalm, Wettersteinhütte or Wangalm in the Leutasch alpine paradise Gaistal
- Morning walk around the Gschwandtkopf and through the larch forests in Reither Auland
For truly picturesque sunrises, you don't have to be an early riser by any means in autumn. At Seefeld's Gschwandtkopf, the sun only rises at around seven in the morning at the beginning of October. But if you don't want to climb a peak right away, you can enjoy the golden morning atmosphere quite comfortably in the larch forests in the Reither Auland, where wonderful panoramic views open up again and again. The associated hike around the Gschwandtkopf can be reached both from Seefeld and from Mösern. From Auland, the first rays of sunlight finally wander along the Reither Panoramaweg to the Kaiserstand lookout point. If you take the same route, on the way back you can be spoiled by the traditional Reither bakers with a fresh breakfast on the village square. On the other hand, those who already conquer the Königstour to the Reither Spitze (2,373 m) the day before, simply greet the sun at the high-alpine breakfast at the Nördlinger Hütte. Also the rustic Hämmermoosalm in the Leutascher Gaistal offers overnight stay with breakfast until the end of October and lies with only about 20 walking minutes from the hiking parking lot Salzbach also perfectly for a completely spontaneous sun salutation. Who likes it in the Gaistal in the morning also a little more sporty, is spoiled after about two hours approach also on Wettersteinhütte and Wangalm with breakfast and southeast view from the sun terrace, overnight stay's here on request also.
Sunny side high plateau: up to 12 hours of radiant daily
- Comfortable sunbeds in the most beautiful places of the region
- Rauthhütte with hood kitchen and Zugspitze view
- Rotmoosalm with 12 hours of sun and breakfast from 07 o'clock in the morning
- Protected landscape Wildmoos with viewing platform Brunschkopf
- 18-hole golf club Seefeld-Wildmoos
As soon as the first peaks shine golden in the sunlight, the autumn day on Tyrol's high plateau really picks up speed. Some "sunny spots" have to be earned, others are just around the corner. The new vantage point above the Leutascher Kulturhaus Ganghofermuseum can be reached in about ten minutes from Kirchplatzl – on the Runst high trail, however, you can also take a very leisurely sunbathing tour there if you wish. The route from Leutasch to the Rauthhütte is pleasantly cool in the morning. Afterwards one enjoys there much warmth, the view to the Zugspitze and high alpine hood kitchen. However, it is brightest on the Rotmoosalm in the Gaistal: Here you still have almost twelve hours of sun even in autumn and get your breakfast already from seven in the morning. In the afternoon, the Wildmoos nature reserve near Seefeld still offers plenty of light – for a leisurely tour to the viewing platform, a round around the Brunschkopf or a game of golf on 18 spectacular holes.
Alpenglow: Real exclusive evening atmosphere
- Reservoir & Sonnenalm at Seefelder Gschwandtkopf
- Mountain railroads Rosshütte, Seefelder Joch & panoramic via ferrata Seefelder Spitze
- Inntal view at the Ropferstub'm in Buchen
- Viewpoint Kurblhang in Leutasch
- Viewpoint Adlerkanzel in Scharnitz or Sonnenbankl on the Kalvarienberg mountain
The most beautiful autumn days end on Tyrol's high plateau with long sunsets and an impressive play of colors. For example, at Seefelder Gschwandtkopf, where the reservoir and Sonnenalm offer truly breathtaking views. If you prefer a real adventure in the evening, take the last cable car to the Rosshütte restaurant instead and walk on to the Seefelder Spitze panoramic via ferrata. There follows probably the most spectacular sunset tour with a far-reaching view over the entire Inn Valley. In the evening, however, visitors can reach the Ropferstub'm near Buchen without any hike at all. On request, the traditional "Törggelen" is served there with the last rays of sunshine – those who hike leisurely from Mösern in the direction of sunset will also bring enough hunger with them. If you are not afraid of a short walk, you can take the leisurely round tour to the Kurblhang lookout point in Leutasch. Here, with a little luck, you can enjoy the exclusive evening atmosphere all to yourself. After a short climb, the Adlerkanzel viewpoint in Scharnitz also rewards you with plenty of sun. Via Birzlkapelle and Karwendelsteg it becomes a nice round – alternatively a walk leads to Sonnenbankl at Kalvarienberg and back via Porta Claudia.
