SPRING

Things you should definitely do in spring

Spring is here! Finally longer days, warm sun and blooming meadows. Admittedly, here in Tyrol, spring would have rather deserved the predicate "late" - or at least "later". He arrives namely a late than in many places. On our high plateau, spring looks a little different: From fresh snow to summer-warm sunshine, everything can be there. That's exactly the reason why you can do (almost!) everything in spring with us. We have collected a few ideas on how you can enjoy spring.

Breathe in the spring while bathing in the forest

Take a deep breath and let the fresh spring air flow deep into your lungs. There is a wonderful smell of earth and leaves in the forest - and of new beginnings! The first delicate flowers are already sprouting from the ground and the birds are chirping cheerfully. Pure spring fever! Take some time out for yourself and bathe in the spring forest.

Preparing for summer

The winter was above all one thing: snowy! The mountain railroads are now taking a short break and then start the summer season. You too can take your time to get ready for summer: Wax your skis once more before you put them away in the cellar (this is the best way to get them into the next winter), exchange the thick winter jacket for the lighter one and bring out the hiking boots again instead. They will also appreciate a little care, such as leather grease or a layer of impregnating spray (against wet feet on the first tour). Last but not least, you can clean the winter dust off your bike (don't forget to oil the chains). So you are ready for the summer season: When you want to start, everything is already ready!

Just enjoy the sun

Simply do nothing. Just lie in the sun. Just fill up on vitamin D. Just being. In many places, spring is also called "Lenz". That's probably where the saying "to have a lazy spring" comes from. Meaning: In spring, just relax and recharge your batteries.

Start the hiking season

Snow still covers the peaks and mountains around the region. The winter has brought a lot of snow, which will remain for a while. So you can't go high up yet - but you can still start the hiking season. After all, the best preparation for hiking is: Hiking! 😉 Our favorite tips for spring: The Brunschkopf, the 3-lake round hike (Wildmoossee, Lottensee, Möserer See), a hike on or around the Gschwandtkopf and the bee trail (also perfect for families with little explorers). From the beginning of May, the popular Leutascher Geisterklamm will be open again - we'll keep you posted on when it is.

Plan your summer

What are your plans for this summer? To stand on the summit before everyone else at sunrise in the morning and watch the golden sun rise? Spend a rustic night in a hut far up in the mountains? Exploring the mountain world on an e-bike and finding out where to get the best Kaiserschmarrn? The possibilities are endless...! And summer is somehow always too short. That's why you can start planning now. Destinations that should definitely be on the to-do list: Hike through the Karwendel on the Karwendel Höhenweg (the key here is to book huts in good time), cycle through the Gaistal on an e-bike or mountain bike, and conquer a peak - the Hohe Munde, Reither Spitze or Gehrenspitze are particularly worthwhile destinations 😉

Getting fit for the Karwendel March

Have you secured a starting place for the Karwendelmarsch? Then you have a great (training) goal for the summer! On the Karwendelmarsch you cross the Karwendel mountains from Scharnitz to Achensee - a proud 52km have to be conquered (the route can also be completed with 35km to the Eng). Such a march of course requires some preparation, and that is best done as early as possible. In spring you can start with a few runs and the first hikes (see above) to prevent severe muscle soreness and nasty blisters.

For the brave: jumping into the lake for the first time

How hardened are you? Jumping into the lake in spring is a test of courage - but someone has to be the first. The water is still ice(!) cold, but the sun is already strong and will surely warm you up again afterwards.

Photograph the flower meadows

A picture for the gods: What a magnificent sight it is when the first crocuses sprout from the ground and turn the meadows into white-purple spotted carpets of flowers. And in the background the white mountain peaks are still shining. Take your camera or smartphone outside and capture these beautiful moments.

Open the climbing season

The warm spring sun is a blessing for all climbers: It heats up the rock wonderfully and thus ensures perfect climbing fun outside. You should take a warm jacket for the shade, but in the sun it is often easy to climb in a T-shirt. Time to activate your biceps again and get fit for the climbing summer. From the end of April, the walls are ready for climbing again, as some walls and approaches are being renovated after the snowy winter.

Enjoy the trails for the last time

We can never get enough of cross-country skiing - and the time until the first autumn trail opens again passes much too slowly for passionate cross-country skiing fans. So the motto is: cross-country ski while you can! 😉 The best time is in the morning, when the sun lights up the first mountain peaks and the trails are freshly groomed. And the best thing about spring cross-country skiing: Regenerating in the warm sun!
