Top 5 Easy Hikes with Culinary Delights in Region Seefeld
Who says you need steep peaks for mountain adventures? A short hike including a stop at a charming mountain hut can also make your senses tingle! At least that's always been my experience when I was out and about on the hiking trails in Seefeld, Leutasch and the like. In this blog you will find the top 5 easy hut hikes with really great food in the Region Seefeld.
1. Circular hike Wildmoos & Lottenseehütte
We start with a very special, almost strange hike. Why strange? Well, you could theoretically call this hike the Three Lakes Hike... but not always!
The starting point is Lake Möserer See, one of the most beautiful spots on the entire Seefeld plateau. Here you can fortify yourself with culinary delights for the hike ahead. From here, however, things get a little crazy. After a cosy section of forest, you will soon see the Lottensee lake. Or maybe not...? That's right, the natural phenomenon of Lottensee doesn't appear every year! Even experts are not sure how this aperiodic lake works. And because a miracle rarely comes alone, there is a second aperiodic lake on this hike.
The Wildmoos nature paradise is home to the Wildmoossee lake of the same name, which can also only be spotted with a bit of luck. But whether 1, 2 or 3 lakes, the circular hike from Lake Möserer See to Wildmoos is always a good idea. Not least because of the excellent culinary catering and the numerous natural highlights along the way.
Duration: Ca. 02:30 h for the whole trip
Route: 7,1 km / 250 altitude metres
Highlights: Möserer See, Lottensee, Wildmoos
Where to eat & drink: Möserer Seestub'n, Lottenseehütte

2. Circular hike "Bodenalm"
The circular hike to the Bodenalm proves that you don't have to travel far or climb a mountain to get that real mountain pasture feeling. A relaxed loop starts directly from Seefeld railway station with two really brilliant places to stop for refreshments. Why do I say brilliant? Well, as I'm a big fan of home-made food, I feel like a young calf grazing on an Alpine meadow for the first time. The homemade alpine cheese and the real churned butter at the Bodenalm are the cow equivalent of a lush pasture for me. Admittedly, that sounds a bit dramatic, but all the cheese lovers out there know exactly what I'm talking about.
However, the culinary specialities don't end there at the Bodenalm.
The next stop on this circular hike is called: Triendlsäge. Anyone expecting dust and wood shavings from this former water saw is mistaken. For many decades, the former saw has been a popular meeting place for hikers and gourmets alike. Not least because of the freshly caught trout from its own waters, the Triendlsäge is not a snack stop you should pass by. At least I have never been able to resist the magical attraction of this place.
P.s.: It's not just because it's nestled between the river and the forest that it evokes romantic feelings. The Triendlsäge is also a popular wedding location!

Route: 8,4 km / 180 altitude metres
Highlights: Bodenalm, Triendlsäge, regional culinary delights
Where to eat & drink: Bodenalm, Triendlsäge

3. Double-Hike Gaistalalm & Tillfussalm
By hike number 3 at the latest, a certain trend becomes apparent: on the Seefeld plateau, an alpine hut rarely comes alone. Especially not in the alpine paradise of Gaistal. There is almost no path there that doesn't lead to a rustic stop-off point. What's more, the Gaistal valley is - without exaggerating - a real natural paradise. The further you go into this marvellous high valley, the clearer it becomes what I mean. Whether you are travelling on foot or by bike, the mostly flat path reveals a new, spectacular view around every bend. The mighty mountain formations, the rippling water and the impressive landscape invite you to pause for a moment and soak up all the impressions. You can do this anywhere along the way and especially on one of the many mountain pastures. With a bit of luck, you can also spot deer, chamois and golden eagles here. They are all at home here. Just like the numerous mountain pastures and their hosts.
One of the easier routes to two of these mountain pastures leads from the Salzbach car park to the Gaistalalm and then on to the Tillfussalm. Both have their own culinary specials and both have a marvellous sun terrace. I don't want to say much more, you simply have to experience it for yourself.
P.s.: The length and scope of a Gaistal adventure can be varied with tours to the Hämmermoosalm, Seebensee and Drachensee lakes and many other (natural) highlights.

4. Hike to the Katzenkopfhütte
Cats are known to have seven lives. But wait, what does that have to do with hiking? Well, anyone who has ever been to the Katzenkopf (cat's head) in Leutasch knows what I'm talking about! It's not just the name that makes it easy to compare the seven lives of a cat with this special place. Here's why: there are (at least) seven ways to experience this summer paradise.
1. hiking: First things first, of course! The leisurely hiking trail to the Katzenkopf can be completed in just under an hour and leads idyllically through the Leutasch forests. 2. chairlift: For those who want to take it easy, there is also the option of taking the chairlift up the Katzenkopf in summer. 3. mountain biking: Just how varied the Katzenkopf really is becomes clear when you look at the biking options. You can conquer the way to the top on various routes by mountain bike, but you can also transport your bike by lift. Which brings us to point four...
4. bike park: Once you and your bike have reached the top, there are plenty of ways to conquer the Katzenkopf on the way down. The family-friendly bike park really does have something for everyone. 5. disc golf: But before we enjoy ourselves at the hut, there's one more speciality. Disc golf is a combination of golf and frisbee and is just as fun as it sounds! 6. enjoy the view: Once at the top, 99% of Katzenkopf visitors do one thing first. They enjoy the unique view of the Leutasch Valley and the surrounding mountains. An absolute must for anyone on the hunt for the best views in the region. 7. hut stop: The best is (of course) saved for last: all the activities mentioned above lead to the culinary experience at the Katzenkopfhütte. Sun terrace + mountain hut + Tyrolean specialities = simply fantastic.

5. Circular Hike "Gschwandtkopf"
The fifth pleasure hike in the group could also be called ‘Seefeld essential’. In just over ten kilometres, you can see and experience (almost) everything that makes Seefeld so special. Arriving by train, the first thing you do is walk through the historic town centre, where numerous shops and places to stop for refreshments await. But there is still plenty of time for this after the circular walk - who wants to lug shopping bags around! Especially when the next stop is the famous Seekirchl. You have to soak up this very special scenery with all your senses. If you fancy a snack break here, you can quench your hunger and thirst in the Sportalm, which is usually flooded with sunshine. Once you've done that, the next steps lead directly across Olympic ground. On the way through the World Cup arena, you can literally feel the great successes of the past and the sporting spirit in the air.
On the trail to the next delights, you first follow the sunny path through the Möserer Tal valley and then turn off towards Reith. If you get hungry along the way, you can stop for a snack at the Enzianhütte with its fantastic views. If you still have some energy left in your legs, you can include a climb to the summit of the Gschwandkopf. There, the Sonnenalm and mountain restaurant await with refreshments of all kinds. If you follow the path a little further, you can already see the next highlight sparkling in the distance. This is, of course, the natural jewel called Wildsee. The inviting promenade, complete with forest section and squirrel sightings, has an incredibly relaxing effect. Finally, you return to the village centre, where this circular hike and this blog come to an end.
