Spectacular, the gorges of the Region Seefeld
Thundering waterfalls, raging gorges, gentle pools of water and spectacular paths: you'll find all this in a gorge. There, where the water has been forging its way through the rock for centuries, power and tranquility unite like in hardly any other place. Two of the most beautiful and impressive gorges of the Karwendel can be found in the Region Seefeld.
The Gleirschklamm
The Gleirschklamm gorge near Scharnitz is a magical spot of nature: wildly romantic waterfalls, crystal clear water and imposing stone tunnels offer a special natural spectacle. An excursion is especially beautiful when the sun is shining, because then the sun's rays make colorful rainbows dance at the waterfalls and the water glows brilliant turquoise. Light and shadow astonish us with their mysterious play. Nature and its inhabitants, such as the breeding dippers, show their most beautiful side.
By the way, the Gleirschklamm has an exciting past: In the past it was used for timber drifting. In a difficult and dangerous undertaking, logs were guided through the gorge. Nowadays, the hike is no longer dangerous, but requires a little surefootedness. The 45-minute hike leads through the Gleirschklamm gorge over small wooden bridges and footbridges. On hot summer days it is wonderfully cool and refreshing in the gorge! If you like, you can combine the hike through the gorge with a cozy stop at one of the numerous huts - simply wonderful!
Gorges: Where ghosts, goblins and dwarves live
The Ghost Gorge takes all its visitors to a special place: the realm of the gorge spirit. For in this mystical world of deep waters and craggy cliffs he and his friends, the goblins and dwarves, are hiding. Can you discover them?! The water winds through the valley, sometimes it is as if it gurgles and rages loudly, then again it whispers softly - what do the goblins and ghosts have to tell us?! They tell us on many display boards.
You can explore the mystical world of hellish waters and witches' cauldrons on three paths. Thereby you can look from the steel bridge proudly 75 meters into the deep gorges of the gorge ghost - a path for the curious and the brave! The ghost gorge is particularly suitable for families with children. Admission is free of charge.
