IMPRESSIVE EXPERIENCES FOR FREE
Priceless, but free of charge in the Region Seefeld: Impressive experiences at no cost
Free experiences are like the secret superhero among leisure activities - they usually come unexpectedly, save our wallet and simultaneously put a big grin on our face. The sheer boundless diversity of the Region Seefeld hides some of these precious treasures that not only delight the soul but also save the wallet. In this article, we reveal which priceless experiences you can discover for free in the Seefeld region!
Hiking, but differently
The special location of Tirols Hochplateau opens up a whole new world of hiking: Far away from business as usual, it really doesn't cost a cent here. In addition to the countless hiking routes, the extensive region also offers a number of themed trails that spice up the nature experience with plenty of added value: On the Reither Bienenlehrpfad (bee nature trail), you not only learn about the local flora and fauna, but also about the fascinating life of wild and honey bees. The Klimatop Reither Moor directly adjoins the nature trail, offering an oasis of tranquillity and a textbook on natural history - with a strong focus on climate change and its visible changes. The Wildsee promenade then leads on to Seefeld with picturesque views and provides detailed insights into biodiversity and nature conservation at the various shore stations. The largest protected area in the region, the Naturpark Karwendel, tells its story free of charge in Scharnitz - in the Naturpark Infozentrum and in the Museum Holzerhütte with its adjacent adventure playground.
Gorge(ous), but with a twist
For all adventure-seekers who love the magic of twilight, the Geisterklamm gorge in the Leutasch high valley offers an absolutely mystical experience. Not only because you will hardly meet any other people then, even on beautiful sunny days, but above all because the light of the first and last hours of sunshine bathes the gorge in liquid gold. Could this be where the legends of the Leutasch gold treasure in the Geisterklamm gorge come from? Incidentally, you should definitely capture this extraordinary spectacle with a few snapshots - otherwise nobody will believe the gold treasure afterwards!
Adventure, but with kids
The Seefeld region offers a wealth of free activities, especially for little adventurers: From dam building and playgrounds along the Leutascher Ache to skilful Stoanmandl stacking in the Scharnitz Hinterautal. Or if you don't want to take the bike, you can simply walk the family adventure trail along the turquoise-blue Leutascher Ache - in the district of Weidach there waits a playground by the river and if you make it to Gasthof Brücke, you can also visit the Geisterklamm gorge a little further on. For shortcuts and the way back, you can always take the bus - which is also free with a guest card. In Scharnitz, on the other hand, the "Stoanmandl" stand guard at the Isar - a game of skill in stacking stones, where you can sometimes play for a few hours for some of the mightiest “Mandln”. And a little tip: If the stone column is still standing the next time you visit, you'll have mastered the stacking technique like a true Tyrolean.
Art & culture, but no tickets
Art and culture don't have to be expensive. The event calendar in the Seefeld region even offers numerous free events throughout the year: In addition to the Handwerksfest (craft festival) in the historic pedestrian zone, classic summer concerts in the Kurpark, the Krampus run in Advent or the Lichterpark near the Christmas market, Seefeld also offers contemporary art for free: With changing exhibitions, the KIS (Kunst in Seefeld) in the old fire station is regularly filled with new colours and forms. From Andy Warhol and David Lachapelle to Sarah Bogner and Pia Fries, the artistic narrative already spans an impressive range. Can it get any better? Yes, with a bit of luck, you can even catch little highlights on top at the KIS - curator tours, live music or artists' get-togethers, for example. So, it literally pays off taking a look at the current culture and events calendar!
Television, but for real
Imagine being able to watch a live television broadcast in the Seefeld region - without having to pay admission! It's actually super easy on the high plateau: All you need for the most beautiful natural spectacles is a little time and a good "Platzl". You never have to look far for your favourite spot, but the viewing platforms and sunbathing loungers in the region are particularly suitable: The viewing platforms on the Kurblhang or on the Höhenweg in Leutasch are perfect for a cosy nature picnic, whereas the wooden loungers by the reservoir on the Gschwandtkopf offer the best views at sunset, and if you head for the viewing platform on the Brunschkopf, you can also hike through the picturesque idyllic Wildmoos landscape. In case you don't want to hike quite so high, simply climb the WM-Turm in the Seefeld Sports Arena. After the relatively short ascent, there are even real Swarovski telescope waiting there (same as on the Brunschkopf) for even more in-depth views.
Keyword “Platzl” with a view: A certain Albrecht Dürer once fell in love with the impressive view of the Inn Valley in Mösern - and even immortalised it in a legendary self-portrait. The mighty Friedensglocke (peace bell) was recently recast in Mösern and found a new "Platzl" in the process. From now on, its bright peace chimes (chime F/0, daily at 5 pm) can be heard exactly where Dürer once dreamed. And as picturesque as it is to sit here and gaze into the distance - fortunately, today's smartphones can also take a chic self-portrait.

Mobility, but all inclusive
The Seefeld Region Guest Card not only opens doors to various attractions and great discounts, but also conveniently acts as a ticket for public transport in the region. This makes environmentally friendly mobility a region-wide trailblazer, enabling you to explore the wide range of offers completely stress-free. And because you can also save the guest card/ticket in the digital holiday companion visitseefeld-Guide, you not only have the public transport ticket handy on your smartphone, but also get all the interesting experiences and events in the vicinity suggested right away.
With so much variety, only one question remains: What are you waiting for?
