Pack your camera and let's go! In the region around Seefeld there are many great photo hotspots of superlatives for the most beautiful pictures. The real most beautiful places: Tips from the professional photographer
Being in the right place at the right time: that's the secret behind the most beautiful Instagram shots. But finding the right place is not so easy with the large selection of photogenic spots on the Hochpleau around Seefeld. That's why photographer Mathäus Gartner has picked out four favorite spots that are particularly "Instagrammable" and can be combined with a nice hike or bike ride at the same time. For the absolute like-guarantee in the social media and in the analgone photo book follow his tips for the perfect shot.
#1: Ghost Gorge
There are many ways from Austria to Germany or vice versa. I discovered the most exciting and beautiful one for me in Leutasch near Seefeld - the Geisterklamm. At the far end of the valley in Leutasch, a very special world opens up. An imposing gorge of bizarre rock walls, rushing cascades and thundering, small waterfalls probably amazes most people. Thanks to a spectacular steel walkway more than a kilometer long, it is also very easy to explore. For me personally, it was only the second gorge I had ever been in, so I was thrilled from the start. Before each bend of the steel bridge I was looking forward like a little child, what will probably come next behind the corner.
Also for photography you have a lot of possibilities and great perspectives where you can let off steam. Especially the two bridges, which are fixed about 40 meters above the Leutascher Ache, are great places to take pictures. I especially like pictures taken with the wide-angle lens. These shots have a "drone-like" flair, as it looks even more expansive due to the large image detail. Also, I can only recommend taking a tripod and a gray filter with you to make long exposures as well. Another tip for the perfect photo in the Geisterklamm: At sunrise or sunset you not only have the gorge to yourself, no, the light is also better than during the day. The Geisterklamm is also perfect as a bad weather program, because in the rain everything becomes even more mystical and the Ache has much more water.
#2: The Gehrenspitze
The Gehrenspitze is a panoramic mountain par excellence. I am very fond of the mountains and have already climbed some notable ones in Austria such as the Großglockner, Großvenediger, Wildspitze, etc.. But this peak belongs to one of my favorite mountains as of now. The Wetterstein Mountains, where it is located, is generally a breathtaking area. You don't find so many jags, towers and steep rock faces easily elsewhere. Also for photographing you do not have to look long for great motifs, because there are simply very many.
My tip: The advantage of an early or late ascent are the fantastic sunrises and sunsets. Here, the unobstructed view from all perspectives plays an important role, as no other mountain blocks the view. For those who don't like to ascend or descend in the middle of the night, the Wettersteinhütte offers great accommodation.

Back to our tour: We were really lucky with the conditions. High fog and a great light, that's what every photo enthusiast wants. I was especially fascinated by the views into the Gaistal and towards the Karwendel. With a telephoto lens, that is, a lens with which you can zoom in closer, even more possibilities are open to you. Here I always find it very exciting to work with a beautiful foreground and thus get a depth of field with in the picture. Flowers, grasses or even stones are ideal. In the background, the mountains then come even better to the fore and thus round off the whole picture. I also had a lot of fun shooting with normal focal lengths. On the beautiful ridges at the summit, you can really let off steam and take cool pictures. What did I particularly like? In addition to the incredibly beautiful atmosphere and landscape, we had another special experience. On the way back to the valley, about 50 sheep greeted us at about 2000 meters above sea level. After many strokes and a joint snack, we said goodbye with great memories and descended into the valley.
#3: Pfarrhügel
First time in Seefeld? For me personally, it's always important to get a little overview of a new environment. The Pfarrhügel in Seefeld is predestined for this. In about 10 minutes from the center of the village, you stand at the top and have a great panoramic view. From the Wildsee and over the village center, the view extends to the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains. Enough seating also provides a place to relax.
But before relaxing, I would like to tell you a few tips for photography. This tip is addressed to all early risers: Take advantage of the beautiful morning light! If you're lucky, you'll get a great early morning fog and start the day perfectly! But for the late risers among you, I also have a few suggestions to make your photo even better. The expanse on the Pfarrhügel is great and should also be used for the picture. So don't cut off mountains in the background or stones in the foreground. If there are still beautiful flowers blooming, take them into the picture in any case - these give the photo more color and freshen it up.

#4: Kaltwassersee
Whether as a family hike or also as a mountain bike or e-bike excursion: this perfectly laid-out lake is a point of attraction for many. For people who prefer going downhill rather than uphill, however, there is also an alternative: the funicular to Rosshütte. Once at the Kaltwassersee, a wonderful view awaits you in the direction of Hohe Munde and the Wetterstein mountains. If you have a little luck and it is windless, the peaks even double in the water. I was really very excited about the lake and found especially the view towards Hohe Munde immediately photogenic.
Kaltwassersee
There are extremely many angles, which you can capture. Either with the telephoto lens, so that you get the mountains a little closer and work with a beautiful foreground. But also shots with the wide angle lens to depict the size of the lake. Lots of sky, little water or lots of water, little sky - you can see, trying things out is the name of the game here. What I personally find particularly cool is that it goes up a bit behind the lake. So you also have, if you want, a perspective from higher up and brings more of the valley on the photo. As with any landscape image, the mood is of course an essential factor to get a picture even better. For this, I can only recommend a sunset tour to the cold water lake. Take a few friends and cold drinks with you and enjoy a dreamlike sunset!
