Winter at its most beautiful
Things to see in winter
Peaceful cross-country skiing on easy blue and accessible trails, walks through endless snowy landscapes, the Tyrol's first long-distance winter hiking trail, ice fishing at the lake Weidachsee, five speedy toboggan runs (the Wetterstein and Rauth huts are also accessible with touring skis) – or, alternatively, horse-drawn sleigh rides to Muggenmoos and into the Gaistal, festive chapel hikes by torchlight, a toboggan run with floodlights on the Katzenkopf, wellness and water fun in the Alpenbad Leutasch, and plenty of really delicious food on offer at the huts along the trails and cross-country ski runs – that's how beautiful the quiet time in Leutasch turns out to be!
The winter season starts in November with the special snowfarming cross-country ski trail, followed by the atmospheric Leutasch Museum Advent & Christmas Market, which is within walking distance, and where Austria's largest and oldest public race, the Ganghoferlauf, also starts in spring. The regional buses run to Seefeld until the evening, so you can end the day in comfort – with good company, interesting old Leutasch stories and many lasting memories.
